Excellent hidden gem! A bit out of the way for most tourists but that was good for us because if this place was in central Waikiki, we’d never get in! Menu is fairly extensive. We had the spicy red miso dragon ramen, fried chicken and one pork bun between two of us. It was so good! We got there at 5:30 on a Saturday and were seated immediately (2 people). It was much busier by the time we left 1 hour later, but still had seats available. Service was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable and fast. Prices were also excellent - this must be the last affordable restaurant in Honolulu. Overall, this place is awesome and we can’t wait to come back!!
Cute spot with great ramen! Had the black garlic and the spicy ramen and both were good. The broth was really good, not too rich, not too watery. Wish the char siu was a bit thicker, but the texture was good. Also tried the bao bun which was good. Friendly and fast service!
We went there during their happy hour. We also ordered the ramen that are not in the happy hour menu but they did not disappoint. All the food was very good!
I would have given 7 stars if Google has the golden buzzer. Visited here on Dec 26, being the 2nd customer when they opened at 5pm. When we were waiting outside, we can only see the ramen menu, but once inside, wow the menu is so great.
We ordered 7 items and found out it was happy-hour. We have beer, scallops, tantan tofu salad, spicy cucumbers, fried chicken, classic ramen and 2 pork belly buns as “dessert”. It was only USD$53. How can this happen in Honolulu these days in 2023?
Food and taste are awesome. Real Japanese chef making good menu.
But if you are looking for a fine dining experience, walk away. This is real tasty “hole-in-the-wall” place. Expect this place to be the equivalent Japanese burger joint, accept the fishy smell when you walk in, accept customers talking loud, accept the parking is not easy to find.
Come eat at 5pm when they open. Your reward is your belly full of tasty food and a happy foodie-girlfriend !!!!
Had the Spicy Red Miso Dragon #2 of 3 Spicy levels with Thick Noodles option. Miso broth was very tasty. Spicyness was tolerable and quite enjoyable. Noodles were just right. The bonus was that instead of the usual slice(s) of charsiu, ther were thin slices of what believed to be pork belly. This blew me away as this tasted awesome which made this bowl of Ramen stand out from the others I have eaten recently. Overall a very good & satisfying bowl of Ramen. Started out with a Salad with what I describe as a Yuzu sauce with sesame oil infused, cabbage, corn, slivers of red pickled ginger. It was nothing very good. Also had the Pork Bun (hight recommend) and the Gyoza. Gyoza was cooked perfect with brown crispy bottoms with no grill taste and very tasty. Service was very efficient and friendly. You'll find it hard to get a bowl of Ramen this good.
The golden pork tsukamen is a must order if you like the more chewy type of noodle. The egg noodle itself has a lot of flavor too and the soup is dense but not too salty like traditional Japanese ramen. Adding combo items makes it a complete meal.
The neighborhood surrounding the restaurant is a little rough, and the outside seems a little off, however once you walk into the door, all that went away. The venue is cozy, will decorated and welcoming.
We ordered during happy hour which is from 11:30-12:30, and for the price vs value this is the best ramen I've had for a long time. The staff was also super friendly and efficient. I highly recommend black garlic ramen and the karage.
Would definitely return here on my next Hawaii trip.
